Hank the Ankylosaurus on Route 66, Vega, Texas

After a long day of riding I pulled in to the little town of Vega, Texas. It was a sleepy place with a steady blowing wind and not a whole lot going on within walking distance of my motel. After decompressing and cleaning up, I ate chicken nuggets from a gas station across the street for dinner.

While traveling, part of my nighttime ritual is to figure out where I’ll head the next day. I typically pull up Google Maps to see if I’ve pinned anything close by and browse some of my favorite travel sites like Roadside America to find interesting stops along my path.

For a small town Vega, Texas is surprisingly home to a number of neat things to see. One of my favorites was this super cool roadside dinosaur Hank the Ankylosaurus.

Everybody? This is Hank.

Hank, this is everybody.

I shared this with my 4yr old grandson who is obsessed with dinosaurs, and his first comment was “Why is there a chain?”.
