Thankfully, a Break in the Heat
After a stretch of oppressive heat and humidity here on Long Island, the past week has been a much welcomed change. We’ve been enjoying a break with cooler temps and thankfully lower humidity. Seeing news reports of the western deserts with temps well over 100 degrees for weeks at a time… oof. I don’t know how they withstand it.
These lower temps have me day dreaming about traveling. Thoughts of slipping along through mountain roads and small towns in places like West Virginia keep tugging at the hem of my skirt. If I didn’t know better, I’d say it feels like I must be subconsciously putting a trip together for myself. Mind you, I have no actual plans – just watercolor thoughts, and vacation days burning a hole in my work calendar.
We’ll see what happens. The older I get, the less heat tolerant I am so I’m not leaving in the immediate future. I’ll just have to tread water for a little longer.
Beautiful photo of the two sailboats, and a nice write-up. You wrote “Seeing news reports of the western deserts with temps well over 100 degrees for weeks at a time… oof. Oh, you mean how do we withstand it outside, yep that’s tough!
I went to Puerto Rico for the month of June and July, the heat was too much. Here in Philly has been pretty much the same. I love warm weather, but this summer the heat has been brutal.
