Sure, it sounds a bit demented, but the SLASHER Rally is harmless: Sea, Land, Air, and Space: Hammy’s Experimental Rally (Slasher)

Though the rally is actually 2 days – Saturday & Sunday – I’ll only be riding on Saturday. And, as such I have no hope of winning. But I do plan on having fun doing the ride anyway.

I’ll be sticking to Long Island to pick up my bonuses. I’m not sure how that will work out with traffic and the preparation for the coming hurricane-apocalypse, “Sandy.” But, we’ll see!

So far, I know I got at least 5 points for uploading my mugshot. Yay, I’m not a zero! And I’ve made my DIY rally flag according to the instructions. Now, I guess I should figure out a route, huh? 🙂

Update

So, get this… I actually tied for first place in the Slasher with a score of 179 points. Can you believe it? Yea, me neither! 🙂

Each bonus stop was worth 1 point. Riding in a costume and being in the bonus photo was an extra 1 point. And then, if your costume was related to the Air, Sea, Land, Space theme, you got another point on top of that. So, I wore a pirate costume over my riding gear (which adds about 40lbs in photos, just sayin’…)  and that gave me 3 points per stop.

I felt a little goofy at times riding around in a pirate costume. Having a couple boys at a traffic light shout “you’re a big dork” at me didn’t help but I soldiered on 😆

Living on an island there are a million places to stop for the sea bonuses – marinas, beaches, yacht clubs, etc. but I ended up riding right by many of them because I actually got tired of stopping. Having fun was more important than winning.

What fun. I can’t wait for the next one!
