A Great Big Cup O’ Coffee in Wilkes-Barre
The city of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania is home to a giant coffee mug building. With its dirt-streaked yellow cladding and lovely handle un-held, this humongous cup of coffee sadly sits vacant on Spring street.

Milling around in the parking lot, I contemplated the missed opportunity for happiness that the giant coffee cup represented. Just look at the potential of this huge, silly thing!
One Giant Coffee – to Go
After I riding away, this giant java encounter got me to thinking.
Are we all standing at the edge of greatness? Is it always there waiting for us to take a leap of faith and grab hold of it? After all, isn’t that what this giant coffee mug represents? Someone’s whim, a chance at happiness?
Happiness; is there anything greater than that?
Sometimes being attaining happiness can seem like a moving target. But, when I stop and think about the core elements of what brings it to me, there are some simple truths.
It is only after I start meddling with over-thinking, turning knobs and flipping switches that things become complicated and happiness wanes. It is when peripheral garbage distracts me that I lose sight of the truth of what is at the center of me being happy.
The relaxed part of the mind knows the way. If only I would listen to it.
Perhaps I should switch to decaf.

The fantasy that I built in my mind around the coffee cup building was light and sweet. I imagined smiling faces beaming out of the drive-thru window handing over the goods. And in return the people in their cars driving away smiling.
Perhaps some other change-taker will have the beans to resurrect this sleeping giant.
