Ride to Eat: Tuesday Night Supper Club – Burgerology

Burgerology – My Favorite Degree!

On Tuesday nights, I try to meet up with friends to get out and get some air on the bikes. This usually involves a little riding, a little eating, lots of laughing and shit-talking. Burgerology in Huntington was a perfect fit.

Here on Long Island, we have tons of places that now offer outside dining. It’s unfortunate that it took a pandemic to push us in this direction, but I’m happy we’re here. We’ve been sorely lacking a thriving outdoor cafe culture for far too long.

Burgerology now offers sidewalk seating!

Now, I’m not usually one for posting food photos (donuts don’t count) but this mac & cheese bacon burger on a pretzel bun with truffle fries was really good and I thought you should know about it 🙂

The burger was so good in fact, that when I spotted it on the menu and said so out loud, someone immediately copied me and ordered the same thing.

As is my right by the ancient laws of restaurant dining, I made sure to tell the waiter that I saw it first and that I was indeed being copied. The waiter, caring deeply with every fiber in his soul, looked at me sympathetically. Or, it might have been the look of who gives a shit? It was dark out.

As if the Mac & Cheese burger weren’t enough of a reason to hit this place up ~ on the back-side of the Burgerology building, there is a knockout mural painted by Andaluz the Artist, featuring Baby Yoda holding a cheeseburger. Does it get any better than this?

Amazing food, great artwork and a ride on your motorcycle? A win all the way around!

Not only did my order get copied, but this guy cockblocked my photo opportunity! Man, with friends like this… 😀

Where on Long Island is the Pokemon Wall?

You can find the Pokemon Wall painted by Andaluz the Artist in the town of Huntington at: 231 Broadway, Huntington, NY 11743

On Wednesday night, the weather was absolutely perfect for riding. I met up with Brian and we rode our fraternal twinsie FZ07’s out to the town of Huntington, here on Long Island. I wanted to finally see the Pokemon wall mural that is painted on the side of a building in the Greenlawn area.

Unfortunately, we didn’t make it before the sun went down so we weren’t able to see everything in its vibrant, full-color glory. It was also a challenge to snap photos of the whole piece in the dark with the floodlight on the side of the building shining so brightly.

But, making lemonade out of lemons ~ the dark of night provided its own sense of drama.

And now that I know where the Pokemon wall mural is, swinging by in the daylight will be easy-peasy. I’m definitely going to do that!

The mural is so packed with characters to look at! It provided a wonderfully dramatic photo backdrop for our wee FZs.

The Pokemon Wall

The wall mural was painted in 2016 at the height of the Pokemon Go craze by local artist Andaluz the Artist. You can see his work all over the island, and especially around the town of Huntington.

Pretty cool, right?!

I think this piece is definitely one of Long Island’s great roadside attractions.

Will Ride for Donuts

Will Ride for Donuts

My love of donuts is known far and wide amongst my friends. Perhaps you’ve even noticed the pink donut sticker on the BonBon.

I don’t know when the love affair began, really. But I do have many childhood memories of sitting at the counter on a swivel stool with my dad at our local Dunkin Donuts. Spin, spin, spin.

Nearly every time I pass Maple Donuts on Route 30 in York, Pa. I find my wheels turning in to the parking lot automatically. Perhaps donuts have a particularly strong gravitational pull. After all, some people believe Earth is shaped like a donut.

Sometimes I even bring some home to share. Topboxes are great for this.

Have you ever seen a more glorious mailbox than this sprinkley dough hoop? I’ll save you the trouble – you haven’t.

Donuts for dayyyyyys.

One for now, one for later. Even after being squished in a tankbag, the mighty donut delivers.

After pulling in to Huntington, West Virginia this October, I opened my hotel app and found a place to stay. For some, the view from my room window might seem a little lackluster. But to a donut lover? Well… you know.

My holy grail donut stop was definitely Randy’s Donuts in Inglewood, California. Deliciousness and roadside royalty wrapped up in one neat package.

What could possibly surpass the scrumdiddlyumptiousness of eating a donut in a filthy parking lot, under the watchful gaze of that giant rooftop beast? Nothin’, that’s what.
