This photo had been lingering in my camera roll for some time. I passed this Giant Chicken Army Mobile Unit serendipitously while on my way elsewhere. Unfortunately, I never made the effort to jot down where.

Cue: A Google Map Expedition

Sometimes to go back to locate something I’ve seen I have to use peripheral clues when the image itself doesn’t give the game away.

Clue: I knew this rooster was in Kentucky. Plus, I knew that I’d spotted it after I giggled about reading the town name “Strunk” on a water tower. Looking at photo timestamps, I giggled and snapped a pic in Strunk around 11:27. The camera roll photo after the rooster was in Danville at 1:21. So, I knew the rooster was somewhere between Strunk and Danville, Kentucky. Whew!

So, I had to go back and narrow down the rooster’s location by looking at the other photos I snapped before and after this one. Thankfully those in-betweeners were much easier to locate and trace my path to this big beast.

All that is to say, given that this gentleman is on wheels, who knows if he’s even still there? If there’s one thing we do know about the giant chicken army… they’re everywhere!
