The Deerfield, NJ Carpet Viking – Muffler Man

If I’m not mistaken, the carpet vikings get called muffler men but since they don’t share the same mold they’re really like siblings or maybe cousins. For what it’s worth I still refer to them a “muffler man vikings.” Hopefully the roadside police don’t haul me in.

This big fella, muffler man or otherwise, is in Deerfield, New Jersey outside of Orr’s Flooring store. It’s been many years since I’d visited this guy. And even then, my last visit was in the dark of night in 2009. While in south Jersey over the summer I stopped to get a look at him in the bright sunshine. He’s clearly had a little work done since our last meeting!

Comparing his 2023 eyes to those in 2009, I gotta say – he’s lookin’ a little crazy these days. And the mouth in 2023 is a little less like a sternly thin lipped viking who might loot your town and a lot more insulted that you would think he’d consider such a thing.

I feel like this viking is giving Spongebob legs. Am I alone in this?
