Postcards from the 2017 IBR: Chris’ Riding Adventures

Last week when I went to my PO Box, I opened it to find among its contents two postcards that rode in the 2017 Iron Butt Rally. For the uninitiated, that’s the toughest road rally of ’em all. So the slogan goes – 11,000 miles in 11 days. Can you even imagine?

These two cards were sent by my friend Chris who was busy taking his second twirl around the floor at the Big Dance aboard his Harley-Davidson Sportster. Incidentally, it has over 200,000 miles on it. He took home the hard-fought and won honor of a silver-level finish of the Iron Butt Rally in 2017.

Seeing the two postcards made me grin out loud (is that a thing?). The idea that he had the time or even thought to stop and pick them up while he was busy riding and routing and rallying knocked my socks off. Thanks, Chris! 😀

Following Chris’ finish in the 2015 IBR, he was featured on Revzilla’s Common Tread Blog: Would you ride the Iron Butt Rally on a Sportster? He also keeps a blog of his riding adventures, rally rides and grand tours like the Tour of Honor. You can visit him at Chris’ Riding Adventures.

Congrats on your second IBR finish, Chris!
