Revisiting the Ghost of a Coen Brothers Long Island Movie Location

In 2012, the Coen Brothers were on Long Island filming the movie Inside Llewyn Davis. At the time, they built a false-front of a Skelly gas station in the town of Riverhead for shooting. I rode by and snapped a few pictures while it was up. You can see it at 1:20 in the movie trailer. (h/t Ally)

I rode by the “station” again this past Sunday – 4 years later. All that is recognizably left of the movie set is the Champion mural on the wall and the little white door.

This Google streetview image shows just how much magic is involved with creating movie sets. Amazing.

Interesting. In your photo with your bike in front of the set, I can see the modern garage doors behind the “period” doors. Also, the modern electric meter was not disguised. With the common usage of CGI/CGA in media, I believe less and less of what I see. Bob

I remember your initial post about this. Later, I was just wandering around and unexpectedly spotted it. What a thrill that was!
