On the Front Lines with the Giant Chicken Army

For someone who never goes anywhere and never does anything, I managed to go a few places and do a few things on my motorcycle in 2015. In those travels, I saw firsthand some of the amassing giant chicken army.

That is so strange. Not only that those chicken statues exist, but that you found them in all those different places.

We Canadians don’t indulge much in that kind of public whimsy. On the highway to Toronto there is a giant apple perched on the roof of a pie store, there is a giant five cent piece in Sudbury, and a giant Canada goose in Wawa (an indigenous word for goose), and that’s about it for large whimsical roadside monuments that I have come across so far. Sadly I have no photographic images to offer as proof.

Oh for heaven’s sake, I forgot the two Montreal giant things. There’s a giant milk bottle downtown (a water tower on the roof of what used to be the Guaranteed Pure Milk Co.), and the giant orange that houses the Orange Julep restaurant.

    But that’s it… I think.

I love quirky animals. Which explains our friendship. 🙂

Those images just scream America. Especially the giant chicken with the Budweiser truck in the background.

I didn’t know there was a RA Canada site. Nice to know.

I am learning so much through this challenge. Thanks. Not only for participating, but also for encouraging others to sign up, too. It’s always nice getting to know other like-minded folks.
