Bucket list, To-Do list, whatever you want to call it – I jot things down in an effort to help me focus when I become a deer in the headlights. Sometimes when I have a million options rattling around in my brain, I freeze. Opening a list, pointing to a line and just going with it makes things easy.
We’re now into the 6th month of 2015. Truth be told, I haven’t added many things to my list this year. I’ll chalk that up to bad paperwork and not a lack of curiosity or enthusiasm. On the flip side of that, I have managed to experience a few things on my Lifelong Pursuit of Fun list 🙂
The 2015 Halfway Point
Visit Mount Equinox in Vermont
I believe that I first learned of Mount Equinox from an online post about Americade. The view of the rolling green mountains of Vermont stayed in my mind and went on my To-Do List as something to see with my own eyes.
Thanks to my friend Ed for lending me one of his fatbikes, we took a trip to California in May of 2015 to ride bicycles and generally hang out. That satisfied my “Take a Bicycle Vacation” wish.
During that trip, I visited some sights that were long on my pursuit of fun list. And a few that never got put on officially but were certainly “I’d love to see that one day” stops. They’ll get honorable mention.
Big. Beautiful. Donut.
We hopped in to our rental car at LAX and went directly to Randy’s; do not pass go, do not collect $100. Basking beneath the glow of that gorgeous donut we welcomed ourselves to California with a delicious chocolate glazed.
It was so tasty… we stop on our way back to LAX, too.
A classic cinematic icon. It was our first stop on our mosey around the edges of LA.
Bicycle Across the Golden Gate Bridge
I absolutely LOVED being able to do this. Though we’d San Francisco before we never took the time to pedal the big orange beauty. It is an easy ride along the bay, across the bridge and to Sausalito where you can take a ferry back to the San Fran piers. Don’t have a bike? No problem. There are tons of rentals. Do it!

The Devil’s Postpile
As I scan down my list, it is interesting for me to see things that I was near to and missed because I was pressed for time or simply forgot about them. The converse of that is winding up in a place I’d wanted to be but hadn’t actually set out with that specific intent. No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Now I’ve got to go through my scribbles and bookmarks and do some list maintenance. So many wonderful things to see and do in this world!
