Haircuts, Frost and the End of the World

I rode the Ural to my haircut appointment the other night. When I walked in, the receptionist offered to take my jacket as she usually does. She musn’t’ve been used to taking many skunky looking motorcycle jackets because her face looked totally grossed out. Oopsie 🙂

When I left the salon the sun had long since set. There was a dampness that hung on the cold air. You could see it making halos around the orangey lamps that lit the parking lot.

It was the first time that I remember seeing frost so far this year.

It is nearly the 21st of December, the winter solstice when we make our way over the hump to days that get longer. Or, to the end of the world, you know if you traded in your Far Side desk calendar for a Mayan one.

So help me, if the world ends so soon after I got this fabulous haircut I’m going to be pissed.

Brrrrrr! Too cold to ride here in Minnesota. I’m missing my motorcycle something fierce.

  2. Counting down to winter solstice as well. If you ask me this whole time change thing is backwards. Let’s make the days even shorter in the winter and even longer in the summer, that’ll bring balance to the force! Argh! Anyway, Toronto’s been chilly but temperatures during the day are mostly above freezing. Outside the city it’s much cooler. TGISmog?!

  3. Yeah its nice down here in Houston. Its been in the 70’s so no down time to this years riding season at all!

      Hey Dominik 🙂
Lucky dog. The 70s are the perfect riding temp for me.

But, I suppose i really don’t mind riding in the winter here in NY, assuming the roads aren’t salty & icy. It’s our “normal” you know? Better to plug in and ride than to park 🙂

So, where’s the “fabulous haircut” photo?

  5. Fuzzygalore says:

Unfortunately, Richard – My face is attached to the rest of my head with the fabulous haircut. It (my face) was made for radio 🙂

Hooray for days starting to get longer. Let’s all going anoint the mighty oaks to bring back the sunshine.

Well you can go paint your nekkid self blue and dance with the fairies but I don’t know if that would work.

Somehow I think the days will get longer either way.
