That’s An Unusual KLR Headlight Mod

That’s An Unusual KLR Headlight Mod

Sometimes in life you find yourself doing what you gotta do, just to get by.

Hokey Maglight headlamp KLR

Looks like this KLR owner I spotted the other day was doing just that.

Maglight headlamp KLR

I’m not exactly sure a Maglight would be my first choice as a headlight replacement, but okaaaay. I’m sure it uh,… works GREAT! And is perfectly legal to pass safety inspection. 🙂

If you’ve ever poked around on this type of stuff may be all too familiar.

How About You?

Have you ever jury-rigged something hokey up on your bike? Maybe a milk crate instead of a top box? Bleach jug hand guards?  Don’t be shy!

  1. That’s right on the money for most KLR owners. what ever gets them through the day. After having a few klr tech days over in my garage you see a lot of cheap engineering and some of it is scary..

  2. The milk crate instead of a top box is a common one here in Australia – especially for “postie” bikes.

The bleach jug hand guards are an awesome idea! I think I’m the only V-Strom owner on the planet without hand-guards….a friend of mine thought they were standart equipment as everyone has them…(except me!)

I had the camelbak tank bag idea going for a while.

    1. Go for the jug handguards! 😆

I have a friend who turned his old tank bag into a perfectly fitting tailbag for hit sport bike.

I know someone else who used a piece of punched metal that like you would put over a duct vent in front of his radiator on a Wee to keep stones from pinging away at it. I’m not sure what the right term is – the sheet of metal had something like an suit of clubs pattern all over it. It worked. And air flowed through freely.

  3. One time I put a snake light on my old CR80 to ride it at night. Another time I actually put a high intensity led head lamp on it too. I’m happy I don’t have to do that anymore 😆
