Merry Christmas - 2007
T u e s d a y ,   D e c e m b e r   2 5 ,   2 0 0 7

Santa will soon be on his way. Have you been a good kid this year? I know I have. Mostly.

So many wonderful adventures, good times, laughs and smiles to be thankful for this year. I am blessed with a unique and wonderful group of friends from all over the world. Each one of you has given me the gift of your time, care and friendship throughout the year. For that I am greatful.

Some new friends made their way into my life, further fortifying the idea that this globe is a big spiderweb that connects us all. When each of us makes a move it is felt by someone else out there. We're all separated by just a few strands of thread. I've had the good fortune of having some people change their mind about me and I, them. The kindness of strangers is often a great surprise. I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad commentary. I think I will lean towards good.

I'm proud of my friends, happy for their triumphs and their ability to work through their own personal adversities. I love you all. Even if you aren't reading this. o)

Most of all, I cherish my family. They are my most important gift, my reason for getting up each day, my support system. Their enduring faith and curiosity about life, their open minds, hearts and laughter never cease to amaze me. Without you, I am nothing. Chloe and Kenny, you are my everything. Yes, you too, Luna.

So with that. Thank you too, for reading and taking the time out of your day to see what happens in my tiny universe. Wishing you greatness for 2008.

The Mother Ship

One of my friends sent me an email entitled "Can't make a bike more ugly" which of course means, I'd probably love it. It is no secret that I'm a lover of the ugly ducklings of this world. So I cracked open the link and sure enough... Wow, I love the looks of the thing!

Beggars Can't be Choosers Banquet
S u n d a y ,   D e c e m b e r   2 3 ,   2 0 0 7

My latest fortune cookie fortune says:

"Treasure your good memories and you need not worry about ending a banquet."

I feel like I should find great reverence in this statement. It sounds very philosophical, maybe Buddhist, and definately very deep. But between you and me, I have no idea what it means. I did a quick web search for more information on the quotation and indeed I had found that many other people have posted about receiving this quote in their fortune cookies. But, I haven't found the origin of the phrase. None of the folks posting their wonderfully meaningful quote go on about what the hell it means. I bet they secretly have no idea either.

Is it a 2 part fortune? Something like.. "Treasure your good memories. Oh, yeah, and um... you don't need to worry about ending a banquet" or is this all one continuous thought?

Ending a banquet? What the hell does that mean? Does that mean I won't stop a banquet from happening? That I won't end up being the main course at a banquet? If I don't treasure my good memories I will end a banquet?

Do I really need this level of aggrivation from my sweet and sour chicken? I mean, really. Next time we're getting Dominos.
