Saturday Ride: Making Friends and Feelin’ Fine

On Saturday morning I woke up with the feeling that I was being visited by infinite possibility. It’s been a while since that’s been around. I’d missed it.

In addition to feeling generally great, can you believe that it was over 60 degrees out? In December! When I left on the Expressway in the morning, I didn’t have to plug in. Hell, I even wore my regular leather gloves. Not being tethered and not having to wear oven mitts? Like Christmas came early.

It was the first time in a few weeks that I took the Tiger out. I’d been riding the Bonnie exclusively. When I rolled the Tiger out of the garage and swung a leg over it – wowza – it took a minute to get reacquainted with its size. It felt positively gigantic. I was a little wobbly maneuvering around on tippy toes.

My not-so-planny-plan was to head back to Connecticut to further explore the Roxbury area where I’d ridden a few weeks before. When I was last there, I was on a mission to find the former residence of the artist Alexander Calder in Roxbury and didn’t have a whole lot of time to dilly-dally. But on Saturday? I didn’t have any sort of timetable. And so… I wandered.

While I was riding around, I made a few new friends:

Loved this little guy surrounded by a bunch of horses asses. We’ve all been there, buddy.

I closed out my ride with a trip back home on the ferry. And for the first time in what seemed like ages, I felt as calm as the Sound. <3
