Cabin Fever: This Is The Time When Trips Are Born

Cabin Fever: This Is The Time When Trips Are Born

For the first time in what seems like eons, I noticed that it was light out at 6:30 this morning. And as I walked the dog in the evening, it was still light out at 5:30. Just that little bit of sunshine made me feel hopeful.

While scrolling through my Facebook feed, I noticed a photo post from Wayne, the all around good dude at America Rides Maps. He was talking about having cabin fever and how “this is the time trips are born.” Ain’t that the truth?

As it turns out, I have been having a recurring daydream for a couple weeks now. I was just telling my mom about it over the weekend. In it, I am cruising down the Blue Ridge Parkway by myself. The air is warm, the sun is filtering golden light through the trees. And me? I am feeling like a million bucks.

This is a trip that I’ve been on several times before so I’m not sure what’s driving this daydream. Am I seeing signs? Seems kind of interesting that I would be having this recurring daydream and then zero right in on this particular posting from the guy who makes maps of the best riding around the Blue Ridge. Wayne, are you sending me secret messages?

  1. I have daydreams but seldom about riding. Those come at night as I’m falling asleep. But I can never remember where I went…

I have noticed the light earlier and later and that gives me hope that winter will diminish. I just hope it happens before I diminish.

  2. Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana are three states I’ve never visited. I’d sorta like to head North, too. I never did visit Quoddy Head. Then there’s Breaks Interstate Park, too, which just might involve a trip on the BRP. And I’ve got friends in the Outer Banks, so have been thinking about heading that way, too. See? My brain has been busy.

Delete that duplicate comment, please. I’m comment challenged…
