Awesome Motorcycle and Travel Blogs I’m Reading
Magazine blogs serve a purpose. They are great resources for technical information or the latest industry news. But, my favorite blogs are the ones that are written by regular folks.
5 Awesome Motorcycle and Travel Blogs
Gone Scamping
Ride along with Deonne and her Scamp trailer ‘Sadie’ as she explores the highways and byways of America. Though it is not a motorcycle-specific blog, Deonne is a sassy and thoughtful wanderer. She’s my kinda girl.
Two-Wheelers Revisited
Interested in the Pacific Northwest? Take a ride with Sonja as she motors through the beautiful mountains, down shady backroads and along beautiful river banks. Lots of inspiring photos here as well as a great blog hostess.
Trailrider – Adventures & Ride Reports
This blog offers a motorcyclists view of South Africa. I see that as a place I’m not so sure I’ll ever get to see with my own eyes so I find this blog especially interesting. Warning: Photo-rich ride reports will kick your wanderlust into gear.
Riding the USA
According to his bio – George was born and educated in South Africa. His blog takes us along for the ride as he explores the United States on his Kawasaki Concourse. Be sure to go through the posts and pics in his Cross Country Ride Reports. It will make you want to get out there and see the country yourself.
Chessie’s Tales, Motorcycles and Rides
Chessie has many years and miles under her belt. Her bio says she hasn’t owned a car in 25 years! Something about that really speaks to me. Though she’s been all over the dang place, her blog is mostly filled with beautiful photos of rides taken in the Southeast. Great stuff in these pages.
What I Like in a Motorcycle Blog
Travel.
I love to be able to ride along with the author while they share a view of their world with me. Adventures don’t have to be “epic”. If the writer can convey the beauty of their everyday life – I’m on board.
Photos are a must.
I have a hopeless fascination with the wanderers of the world. Bonus points if they are quirky and perhaps slightly geeky.
What I Don’t Like in a Motorcycle Blog
I really don’t like ride reports that feature photos of food. Plates of eggs, anything with a sauce or gravy… Ugh it just grosses me out. I don’t know how that became the thing to do but man, I wish it would stop.
I’m not in to personal blogs the just repeat the moto-mag news, either. “Leaked” photos of the blah blah blah?! Don’t care.
Now it’s Your Turn:
What do you look for in a motorcycle blog? Do you know of a blog that fits my “what I like” criteria? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks so much for the kind words! And now I have four new roadtrip blogs to check out, so thanks for that, too.
In the future, should I email to warn you about posts featuring photos of hot turkey sandwiches or smothered hot dogs? (ha)
What a great compliment! Your own blog, from the beginning has always drawn me. First I had to explore it because…well…what a fascinating name: Fuzzy Galore. I had to see and meet the person whose thought processes worked like this…motorcycles…and fuzzy-galore… my mind still likes to conjure up little pictures of MS FUZZY… [laughing]. (Please don’t feel as if I’m trying to be-little…I am not! I love FUZZY GALORE!)
MS Fuzzy, I enjoy photos and light reading. I enjoy seeing places I have yet to see and enjoy in person, I also enjoy the musings of an intelligent and thoughtful writer…
One of my favorite non photo bloggers is http://missbusa.wordpress.com/category/motorcycles/suzuki-hayabusa/ On Twitter you know her as MS.BUSA …. she’s an amusing and thoughtful writer.
I know I can always count on Fuzz for new and interesting blogs.
Fuzz set the charge on the “induction Goebock” and picked up the end of the wire. The red cap on the battery terminal beckoned. The cap was last barrier between her and…
yeah. i’ve made fun of the whole pix of food on biker blogs thing. it should be beer and strippers!
keep it up, woman.
Fuzz, did you happen to see the trip blog that Rob posted up on ESB…these 2 guys took 5 months and put Ewan and Charlie to shame. I’m reading as much as I can each day.
Yes, there are food pics. 😉

I didn’t see that, John. I’ve just subscribed to their RSS and will start giving it a read. Thanks for the link!
I absolutely love to read blogs that connect me with the rides and adventures of the rider/blogger. I love your blog, Chessie’s blog, and about 70 others. Now it will be 4 additional.
There is one that I found on Chessie’s blog… http://theoasisofmysoul.com/ I had the awesome opportunity to meet this man after reading his blog for nearly a year. It was a grand pleasure! I have to warn you, Fuzzy… he is a former chef and so there are times when he does take pics of food but, they are amazing. This is a man that has the road as his home and is well worth the read. It is a true journey of discovery.
I hope that one day I will personally meet every one of the riders/bloggers that I read. So keep the light on for me!! LOL
Fuzzy Galore you are an amazing woman and I am glad to call you friend!
Here is My Christmas wish for you and all who ride: http://beltdrivebetty.blogspot.com/2010/12/need-to-ridemy-christmas-wish-to-you.html
BDB – You are too kind. Wishing you miles of smiles in 2011. Stay safe out there on the road.
Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I’ve got a couple more feeds added to my reader. Looks like it’s going to be pretty snowy over the next few weeks so I’ll have lots of reading to entertain me!
Thank you so much for mentioning my blog, Fuzzy Galore 🙂
I love your blog too and the name just makes me all Fuzzy 🙂 Hopefully we will meet one day.
I can’t wait for spring so I can get my new Yamaha Tenere, lots of adventures are waiting for her, my current bike is “Goldie”, I still have to come up with a nice girlie name for the new all black Tenere, any ideas? 😉
My pleasure, George. And thank you~
I don’t know that you can properly name a bike without meeting it first. I’ll reserve my opinion until such time 🙂
Fuzzy – great post. I am inspired. My biggest reason for NOT posting more is while I love riding, I do believe it is about more than just motorcycling. It is about the experiences on the road. The people waiting at home. And the benefit that those of us who are privileged to live life get to experience every time we saddle up.
I am getting ready to start posting a lot more. Not getting so hung up on RIDE REPORT details. At least not always. Your description above has further inspired this direction.
Of course I STILL cannot thank you enough for the Mattole Road suggestion! 🙂
I do hope you do some more posting about your adventures and those experiences you’re talking about. Can’t wait to read them 🙂
I’m so glad that you loved Mattole Rd. It is a little slice of heaven, isn’t it?
Wow, I just found out that I made it on your list. Thank you. I am honored .
Thanks for sharing the useful topic about moto touring and its safety tips.
About your question of “what do I look for in a motorcycle blog?” Photos, but not just photos, but photos you can click on and view the original high resolution version of the photo. To view the photo in it’s original glory, not a scaled down version of the photo.
