Unexplained Sighting on the Road – Your Theories Needed!

A few years back, while coming home one night on the bike I saw something that haunts me to this day.

It was about 11pm when Kenny and I pulled up to the last traffic light on our route home. Under the hum of the street lamp the two of us sat there at the red light with no other cars around. What we saw could not be immediately explained away. I’d never seen anything like it before or since.

We both looked at each other with a “what the hell…?” expression, unable to make heads or tails of what we saw. Strewn through the 3-way intersection, were hundreds and hundreds of golden brown pancakes. There were no cartons or wrappers or containers, just… pancakes. It was the damnedest thing!

  • How did they get there?
  • Who was carrying them and why?
  • Is the truth out there or will I be left to wonder for all eternity?!

Do you have any theories on the pancakes? Have you ever spotted anything strangely unexplainable on the road?

    OMG! That photo is incredible!!!!

My mum had that experience with £20 notes, once upon a time. I think if you asked her those questions at the time she’d’ve said “Who the hell cares???” lol

Maybe the Gingerbread Man dropped some of his loose change?

My theory is that a Nova Scotia bound plane jettisoned the pancakes because they were no longer on the menu.

I put them there. I thought you guys would be hungry after a long sunday ride.

Green beans – thousands of them along a 2 mile stretch. Of course, I eventually caught up to the overloaded truck that was hauling them to Green Giant or DelMonte or wherever. Mystery solved.

Went “parking” once as a teen with a girlfriend on a deserted road. Some time later we noticed an odd glow outside the car and rolled down the fogged up windows. The entire car was covered with 20 of those blinking lights that mark highway construction zones. Never saw a car approaching, and never heard a thing…

Pancakes? Too bizarre, and if I were alone at the end of a long trip I’d be inclined to think hallucination, just like all the imaginary things that jump onto a dark road when you’re exhausted. Two riders so dialed into each other that they “see” the same thing? Must be soul mates…
