Window Shopping: Bimota, Aprilia, Derbi – Oh My!

While out and about today we passed by a now defunct motorcycle showroom. We peeked in the windows and found a few interesting specimens. The owner is well known locally for hoarding collections of interesting bikes that are never priced to move. Sorry for the glare on photos, it was quite sunny and we had to shoot through the window.

What a facinating place. So, he keeps the storefront and a variety of bikes but he’s no longer in business?

No, he’s got a shop elsewhere now. I think he must own that building and uses it as some sort of storage. There were lots of pieces and parts all over what was once the showroom floor.

That’s a shame. Hoarder is a correct term for that guy. He prob doesn’t even like motorcycles anymore, just wants an astronomical amount for what he’s got. Bikes should be sold if there not either ridden or displayed properly. A true collector knows that and has appreciation for the machine to be used or displayed properly. Put some fucking air in the tires at least.

That was a little harsh. I don’t know the guy. I just hate seeing beautiful bikes rot away like that.

There had always been a large number of Ducatis of all flavors that were sitting on the floor with very low miles on them. It was interesting to see something like a superbike with 1200 miles on it sitting there. If it were an isolated case it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows but how you end up with a good handful of that type of thing – it just makes you ask Why? How?

There were always some very interesting “unpopular” bikes there as well. If someone could get to chatting with him i bet you’d find out he’s got a lot of neat stuff tucked away.

How much for the SB6? That thing is so sweet!

[…] few months ago we saw a previous generation RS250 through the window of a shop here on the island.  Hopefully some lucky soul will pry it from the current owners hands […]
